When choosing is the hardest task
A long to-do list can freeze you in place. When several tasks feel equally important, deciding which to start can take longer than the first task itself. A random task picker removes the decision so you can get moving. The wheel starts with a few general tasks; replace them with your own.
How to use the task wheel
- Copy your to-do list from your notes app or planner and paste it into the entry box. Each line becomes a task.
- Take off anything with a hard deadline today. Do those first; the wheel is for everything else.
- Spin, then set a timer and work on that task.
- When you finish, turn on remove-winner mode so completed tasks leave the wheel, then spin for the next one.
Pair the wheel with focus sprints
A popular routine is to spin for a task, work on it for 25 minutes, take a five-minute break and spin again. The “25-minute focus sprint” slice is in the default list as a reminder. Short blocks keep the random choice low-stakes: if you land on something unappealing, you only commit to 25 minutes.
Study and revision
Students can put subjects, chapters or past-paper questions on the wheel. Random order is good revision practice because exams don’t ask questions in the order you studied them. Use the History tab to see which topics you have covered in a session.
Assigning tasks in a team
For shared work, list the tasks here and the people on the name spinner. Spin a person, then spin a task, until everything is assigned. At home, the chore picker wheel does the same job for housework.
