End the endless scroll
It is a familiar evening: the snacks are ready, everyone is on the sofa, and half an hour later you are still browsing thumbnails. A movie picker wheel gets you to the opening credits. It starts with ten genres you can edit, and works just as well with a list of specific titles.
The two-spin method
- Spin the genre wheel. Remove any genre someone in the room genuinely can’t stand before you spin.
- Everyone suggests one or two titles in that genre. Type or paste them into the entry box after clearing the genres.
- Spin again. The title it lands on is tonight’s movie.
- Before pressing play, agree that a veto is allowed only once per evening.
Splitting the decision into genre first and title second keeps the list short and gives everyone a say.
Use your watchlist
Most streaming services let you keep a watchlist. Copy the titles into a note, paste them here, and the wheel turns your “someday” list into tonight’s pick. Your list stays saved in your browser, so turn on remove-winner mode and work through it one movie night at a time.
Movie night ideas
- Decade roulette: put the 1970s to the 2020s on the wheel and pick a film from that decade.
- Director night: list a few directors you all like and spin for whose film you watch.
- Kids’ choice: let each child add two titles and spin, so no one feels left out.
- Series nights: put shows instead of movies on the wheel, or spin for which episode to rewatch.
Make it a full evening
Once the movie is sorted, use the food picker wheel to choose the takeaway. If the debate is really about whether to watch anything at all, the decision maker wheel can settle that first.
